Hello eBay friends! Here is an email I am composing about BCC -
Blind Carbon Copy to my friends & family which I think should be
shared with anyone who does not understand what it means & why.
Dear Friends & Family,
I love hearing from you, especially personal emails letting me know how you are and what you are up to.
I do not love forwarded / forwarded / forwarded emails.
Especially those that you must send on to a certain number of people or you will have bad luck, your wish will not come true or bad things will happen to you & your loved ones.
But, if you still love those emails & can not help forwarding them (especially to me)...that is ok, but, please BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) those emails.
What am I talking about? For those of you who know...you can just delete this now.
For those of you who don't...this is what I am trying to get at. I will try to nicely explain my years of frustration that I have been wanting to share & spread around. I really am a nice person, just frustrated enought to want to take the time to write this.
OK....You know when you open up one of these emails & you see everyone who this has been forwarded to over the weeks, months & years that these emails circulate. Then the subject: starts FWD: FWD: fwd: FWD: fwd: FWD, etc.
It means you are not the 1st group to get this.
Make your friends & family feel special. ;) but most of all...protect us too.
Heres what to do:
1st...copy just the body of the email (highlight & hit Ctrl + C)you are forwarding to everyone. The email, not the names. & Only once...sometimes the email will have a few of them repeated throughout the whole thing.
Then, click your compose new email button & you will have a new, clean, empty email.
Then paste the body into the large white box. (Ctrl + V) or do it however you cut & paste.
Now your email will appear in the box.
Then, go to your address book. In Yahoo for example, above the To: line you will see 'Insert addresses / Add CC (Carbon Copy - visible to others) & Add BCC' (Blind Carbon Copy - Not Visible to Others). When you click on 'Add BCC' it will give you a second line in which to add your addresses. No matter who you use you will be able to choose BCC in the address box check of spots.
So, in the To: line you can just send it to your own originating email or one of your other emails.
Then, in the new Bcc: Box...Click Inset Addresses & you will see your address book with boxes to check off. Click on your whole list if you would like...but, click the BCC: check off box, instead of clicking the To: box. & OK when you are done.
Why? would I take the time to write this??
Well....I get really annoyed when my email address is part of not only a small or huge group, but, because this list then circulates around the email world as a forwarded email to strangers. True, Six Degrees of Separation, but, I don't need everyone knowing my email address. I am a very private person.
That may not seem so bad, but, now other people have your email. Sometimes they use it to send you their own solicitations, sometimes someone hits "reply all" & you get an email from a friends friend, & sometimes you get put onto junk mail lists from a total stranger. I am guilty of saving addresses to send to when I launch my new emergency preparedness website! (I feel I will be indirectly saving lives with this information & only feel a little bit guilty. I do believe in karma, but I think my intentions in trying to reach the most number of people & help them to get prepared for an emergency will far outweigh them wondering how I got their email. Maybe this will get you to Bcc your emails to prevent people like myself from getting your friends emails.)
Sometimes your message goes right to their trash too...if their security is set high & doesnt recognize the name. My new account sends some straight to the bulk which then goes straight to the trash.
Bottom line: By taking the extra few minutes to isolate the body of the email and Blind Carbon Copying the addresses, you will be protecting yourself and others into the future from potentially getting a bunch of extra emails which can put your email account into jeopardy & take you extra time to . Mean people may choose simply to bother you, send you junk or send you a virus that could ruin your account. It is kind of like taking yourself off of mailing lists you did not subscribe to.
If you do send this to others...you will simply be sharing some information that might then protect your own email address which might then be the middle of the huge FWD FWD FWD list.
If you don't share it, but have read it...Thank You.
Please send me emails, but, I have not yet forwarded any email to anyone, so...If I am going to get bad luck for not doing so...please don't check my name off when deciding who to send it to!
Make it a great day!
Peace! PaCRat & iCanSell4You=^.".^=
