Hello eBay friends! This is still a 'rough draft in progress' about the BCC - Blind Carbon Copy email feature.
Dear Friends & Family,
I love hearing from you, especially personal emails letting me know how you are and what you are up to.
I do not love forwarded / forwarded / forwarded emails.
Especially those that you must send on to a certain number of people or you will have bad luck or bad things will happen to you & your loved ones.
But, if you still love those emails & feel you must forward them (especially to me)...That is ok, but, please BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) those emails so that the recipient list in undisclosed.
What am I talking about? For those of you who know...you can just pick a new article.
For those of you who don't...this is what I am getting at.
OK....You know when you open up an email & you see everyone who this has been forwarded to over the weeks, months & years that these emails circulate. Then the subject: starts FWD: FWD: fwd: FWD: fwd: FWD, etc. & the email probably repeats a few times before you scroll to the bottom.
It also means you are not the 1st group to get this. You might have even received it before. I often find the group of emails my mom's friends forward has already been circulating a year before.
So, Make your friends & family feel special and protect your friends and familys email addresses at the same time.
Heres what to do:
1st...copy just the body of your email (all the important stuff you will be forwarding) (highlight then hit Ctrl + C) you are forwarding to everyone. Just the email, not the names on the original email. Only once...sometimes the email will have a few of them repeated throughout the whole thing.
Then, click your compose new email button & you will have a new, clean, empty email.
Then paste this copied body into the large white text box. (Pointer in box and hit Ctrl + V) or do it however you cut & paste.
Now your cleaned up email will appear your email box.
Then, open your address book. In Yahoo for example, above the To: line you will see 'Insert addresses / Add CC (Carbon Copy = visible to others) & Add BCC (Blind Carbon Copy = Not Visible to Others). When you Click the BCC: Box to insert addresses, it will give you a second line in which to add your addresses. No matter what email service you use, you will be able to choose BCC in the address box check of spots.
So, in the To: line you can just send it to your own originating email or one of your other emails.
Then, in the new Bcc: Box...Click Insert Addresses & you will see your address book with boxes to check off. Click on your whole list if you would like...but, click the BCC: check off box, instead of clicking the To: box. and then OK when you are done.
Why? would I take the time to write this??
Well....I get really annoyed when my email address is part of a visible group, but, also because this list then circulates around the email world as a forwarded email to strangers. I don't need strangers around the world knowing my email.
That may not seem so bad, but, now other people have your email. Sometimes they use it to send you their own solicitations, sometimes someone hits "reply all" & you get an email from a friends friend, & sometimes you get put onto junk mail lists from a total stranger.
Sometimes your message goes right to their bulk or trash too...if their security is set high & doesnt recognize the name. My new account sends some straight to the bulk which then goes straight to the trash.
Bottom line: By taking the extra few minutes to isolate & copy the body of the email and Blind Carbon Copying the addresses, you will be protecting yourself and others into the future from potentially getting a bunch of extra emails which can put your email account into jeopardy & take you extra time too. Mean people may choose simply to bother you, send you junk, sell your email or send you a virus that could ruin your account. It is kind of like taking yourself off of mailing lists you did not subscribe to.
If you do send this to others...you will simply be sharing some information that might then protect your own email address which might then be the middle of the huge FWD: fwd: FWD list. Thank You!
If you don't share this with others, but have read it...Thank You too!
So, if I have not scared you...Please send me emails, but, I have not yet forwarded any email to anyone, so...If I am going to get bad luck for not doing so...please don't check my name off when deciding who to send it to!
Make it a great day!
Peace! PaCRat =^.".^=
