In this Review, I'm going to explain how GREAT the Azuradisc Model 1600 Disc Repair Machine is, how it functions, and what it can and cannot do in disc repair. As a proud owner of my own machine, I've cleaned or repaired 95% of my personal Playstation Game collection. Thats how much stock I put into this gift from Azuradisc!
1) How the model 1600 works.
The model 1600 is designed to be the complete solution for any disc repair situation.
• Repair all types of CD format; anything from audio CD’s and CD-ROM’s to DVD’s and Video Games.
• Up to 6 micro-abrasive levels available to repair anything from a few light scratches to heavy gouges.
• Uses a wet process for a perfect finish-- no special hook-ups required!
• Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Ready
• Gamecube Ready with atachable head.
• MAX Repair Cost = .36 Cents per disc (For repairing the Deep Gouges)
- Requires the purchase of the 1000 discs repair kit which costs 360.00$
The Model 1600 uses a wet process with up to six different levels of micro-abrasives to clean discs, remove light abrasions, deep scratches or even intentional gouges, making it the machine with the widest repair range on the market.
Need to remove only fingerprints? Simply run Stage 1 for 30 seconds and you’re done! Run two stages to remove abrasions or scuff marks, or remove the average scratch using only three stages. The Model 1600 is designed to repair all depths of scratches quickly and efficiently.
One machine can be used as a complete solution, or use several machines in a row to create a high-volume disc repair facility.
The Model 1600 uses two different polishing heads (Stage 1 and Stage 2), four different levels of micro-abrasive papers (that attach to a Super Life Head) and polishing compound to clean discs and repair scratches. The machine uses water with our Aqua Lube additive to cool and lubricate the disc repair process.
The Formula 1 Polishing Compound is specifically formulated for Azuradisc to maximize the repair process and provide a beautiful, shiny, 'like-new' surface to the disc.
2) Features
A. One gallon water holding tank.
No separate or special water hook-ups are required-- just fill it up like a coffee maker! Also has a Low Water Shut-Off sensor.
B. 0 to 60 second timer.
Controls the length of each repair cycle, and auto repeats for ease of use.
C. Safety Lid Built-in shut off switch.
Stops the repair process if the lid is raised.
D. On / Off Switch Illuminated positive action rocker-style power switch.
Indicates when machine has power to operate the push-start button. An optional key switch is available to ensure only authorized use.
E. Fiberglass Casing.
Easy to clean, waterproof operation. Safe, as it will not conduct electricity.
F. Rack-Ready Bottom.
The bottom of the Model 1600 is specially molded to fit into our modular rack systems to create a complete disc repair station!
G. Same Direction Rotation.
This technology separates our Model 1600 machine from all others. The polishing pad and the disc rotate in the same direction, creating the maximum amount of friction, resulting in the fastest, most efficient repair process and allowing deep scratch removal in the shortest amount of time. Always ask about Dual Clockwise Rotation when comparing to other machines!
3) Scratch Level & Processing Speeds
Depending on the type of scratches to remove, the process can take a varied amount of time to process each disc, as shown:
Polishing / Cleaning: 15 Seconds
Light Buffing: 30 - 60 Seconds
Average Scratch: 1.0 - 1.5 Minutes
Medium Scratch: 1.5 - 2.0 Minutes
Deep Scratch: 2.0 - 2.5 Minutes
Gouge: 2.5 - 3.0 Minutes
4) What can't it fix?
This machine is designed to repair scratches from the read-side of the disc only, and cannot fix data layer damage such as:
• Top-Side scratches or foil dents on CD's & Cd-Rom Games (Playstation, exc),
• Manufacturers Defects
• Disc Oxidation
• Data Layer Warping
• Layer Separation (delaminating)
Gouges- It can repair many deep gouges, the success rate is based on the disc type, and how deep the gouge is. Music CDs & CD-Roms (Playstation, exc) can have the deepest gouges removed and look and play like new, DVDs can have half the depth of scratch repaired. Blu-Ray and PS3 discs only have 8% of reparability area to work with so a deep gouge may penetrate the data layer.
Chips- If the chip is inside the play area, and is not real deep, some can be repaired. Many chips are actually cracks, and the repair process can cause the crack to spread, rendering the disc ruined. Chips on the edge of the disc are not repairable.
Cracks- Cracks are not repairable, as they typically run deep, and tend to fissure and spread during any attempt to repair a disc. If your disc has a small crack and still plays, (especially if the crack is in the center hub) make a copy and save as much readable information as possible, and keep in mind if you try to repair it the crack may spread completely ruining the disc, shattering into pieces during the high speed disc repair process.
5) Prologue
In my opinion, this machine is just the best. You simply CANNOT get anything better. If you are a collector of games (like me) and you're constantly struggling to find those "Gem Mint" discs, this IS your solution. AND in most cases you cannot tell they were resurfaced, thats how perfect this machine is. AND you can resurface your games multiple times with azuradisc. The disc cleaning process can be slow, but THATS what makes this machine so great. Hands DOWN, nothing compairs to AZURADISC 1600!!!! for restoring your discs to true like-new condition.
