When selling on eBay many people are lured by the ease and low cost of "drop shipping". Quite simply, drop shipping is when an item is shipped directly from the manufacturer (or wholesaler) to the customer.
On eBay it works like this:
- You find an item to sell in your drop shipper's catalog.
- You list the item for sale on eBay.
- (When it sells) You have the item shipped directly to your customer.
Your customer pays you and you pay the drop shipper. The difference in what you get paid by your customer and what you pay your drop shipper is your profit.
However, chances are you will no have any profit as drop shipping just does not work on eBay.
WHY?
eBay is the low-ball marketplace. People on eBay are looking for a deal and that means they are looking for a product at LESS than retail. Much less usually.
When you use a drop shipper you will be paying near retail price for products and will not have nearly enough profit margin to make a sale. Most items actually cost MORE from a drop shipper than they do from a retailer. Not to mention that everyone and their brother will be selling the same items as you are!
The best thing you can do is avoid drop shipping; period. Save a little money and buy wholesale or better yet - import goods. It is not hard.
If you don't have enough money to buy in wholesale quantity then I suggest you visit a little site called "Drop Shipping Sucks". They are at DropShippingSucks.com and they offer a different way to use drop shipping so it actually works. Or, just go to google and search for "drop shipping sucks" and see all the bad things people who aren't selling drop shipping services have to say about drop shipping.
Remember, if it sounds too good to be true it usually is... And if drop shipping were as easy as finding popular products and selling them for less than you competition then everyone would be doing it.
DO NOT USE DROP SHIPPING. IT IS TRUE - DROP SHIPPING SUCKS.
