I've recently found a whole bunch listings of Samsung Laptop Memory sold on eBay, range 1gb to 2gb in capacity and almost all of them are marked DDR2 PC5300 667MHz
They are priced 30-50% cheaper than a genuine Samsung Laptop Memory would cost. I could not resist the price difference, and ordered 2gb (1gbx2) of those Samsung laptop memory from a seller. Arrived and tested to be all non-working/DOA on my laptop.
I went back to his listing and read very carefully, it says he did not test the memory and they are sold as-is with no return. I'm sure he know that he is selling something that is definitely not working, not to mention they are fake.
I decide to make this guide so other eBay buyers would not get into trap buying one of those fake/non-working memory for their laptop and waste a lot of energy and time and money.
To distinguish, it is fairly easy

Lets take a look at fake memory first. The fake Samsung memory listing usually states the memory as (Samsung Chip) instead of Samsung. The sticker on the memory is printed out of regular fax paper on inkjet printer(notice that the surface is non-glossy) and DO NOT have a Samsung logo on the sticker.
The PCB Board have white printed lines around the chips, both front and back.(marked arrow in picture above)
The real one, as seen in picture below, however,

Have a much longer sticker, with laser printed logo and texts and most important, it have a GLOSSY surface.
The conclusion? Do not buy any memory that says Samsung Chip and please please read the listing, fake mem sellers always states that the memory is not tested and is sold AS-IS with NO refunds/exchange. Read entire listing before you buy/bid!! Sometimes those statements are mixed in middle of item description. Real working memories are aways tested and seller will most likely to offer a refund/exchange if it is DOA. Ask before you bid.
