I was lucky that my first son would take to any baby bottle, any style and any type of nipple. With my second son who was born very early we were not so lucky! He finally settled with Avent. I am the type of mommy who wants every nice thing I can get for them but, I knew Avent was more expensive. I thought wow are they worth the money that i see people pay for them even used on ebay? My answer is YES. I started with about 3 of the 4oz just to try, I purchased about 15-20 on ebay lightly used and then ended up buying about 30 new. If you are soon to be a new mommy or think you may this time around try Avent they are definately a win! I'll give my opinion of plus's and minus.

PLUS

1. They come in 3 sizes. I would not invest in the 4oz or would only get 4-5. I purchased a few 3-4 but after the first 2 months my babies were at 6oz. They are nice to give after maybe a jar food w/cereal just to top off or fill up the tummy when the baby is bigger but the 9oz could also work for that.

2. They are wide so it is very easy to shake up formula, unlike say the playtex ventaire when they get up to the last few ounces it gets a little harder to mix up/put in formula.

3.They are completly bottle and again are very wide- makes for very easy hand washing. The thin bottles especially the Ventair have many parts that you must take apart to get a good cleaning!

4. They come in various size nipples as the baby grows.

5. They have 11oz bottles for the baby who gets really hungry around the last few months! I have about 6 of these. We really haven't use these yet and I think if you wanted to get all 9 oz you could do without 4 and 11oz completely.

6. They don't fade, chip or discolor. I have had all of mine for months, even the ones I purchased used still look new. We hand wash and use the diswasher. We hand wash all the rings, and nipples. I don't know how heating affects the bottles if that alters the bottle any because we don't heat this time around!

7. They have handles. My little one is close to 8m and has been holding his own bottle for about a month and 1/2. The handles are hard to find in white as far as i know they only come with the trainer bottle. You can purchase them in sets of 2 new and they fit on the bottle or sippy cup. I have about 10 handles.

8. They have a wonderful trainer bottle. You start with a bottle, it comes with a handle and baby can graduate to the sippy top.

9. Price is a little high but well worth the money! Keep them in good condition and you can get around half the price you paid back by selling them on ebay!!

Minus

1. The only problem i have found is when putting on the top ensure you shake the bottle up gently at first. About 1 out of every 6 or 7 times that you put top on for some reason it must not seal completely - even when tight. (I know it happens to other people from reading reviews!) Milk will leak out and just a little mess but not fun to clean up if your baby is cryin' for that bottle right now!!

In conclusion, the Avent bottle is well worth the price. I would get 2-3 of the smaller ones or a few of the larger ones just to try. Dont go out and by the entire Avent system because you baby is going to tell you what nipple and bottle they perfer! IF you dont believe me check out all the listings of bottles and nipples on ebay that are "LIKE NEW" or "JUST TRIED"! If this the the bottle for your baby I would invest in as many bottles as you can afford. I am happy with around 50. I dont think you would need that many but just remember with ebay you will always get part of your investment back! One note- make sure you sell 4oz and 9oz in seperate little lots. You may get more bids especially if someone has the 4 oz already! Someone may need the 4oz bottles just to try!

Thanks for taking time to read my opinion!!!
