This is a warning to anyone looking for salt systems. What follows is an honest account of my experience owning an Autopilot system . . . I purchased my system between five and six years ago. The tri-sensor part went out twice. The first time was about nine months after the system was installed. The second time was around one to one and a half years after that. Both times Autopilot replaced them free of charge. The next time I had a problem was when the system was around four and a half years old. I kept getting a "check/clean cell" message. The cell was clean as I rarely got any build-up at all. (The salesman who came to my house to size up what I needed talked me into a size 60 cell which is rated at 60,000 gallons saying that it would last forever because my pool is only pool is only 12,000) I called Autopilot and the technician they sent out replaced the cell power cord and billed me for it. About two months later, the same clean/check cell message came back and I called Autopilot and they again sent a technician out. The technician at that time told me that I needed a new cell. I hemmed and hawed and finally bought a new cell. I put the new cell on and still got the check/clean cell message. At this point Autopilot told me that I needed a new controller at a cost of over a thousand dollars. When I asked about a discount they told me that it had used up it's lifecycle and that I had to pay full price. I don't know about you, but replacing the cell every five or so years is bad enough, but to have to replace the controller as well at an additional cost of over one thousand dollars is too much for me. P.S. If you already have an Autopilot system, I will be selling an almost brand new cell cheap soon.
