I have been an avid collector of autographs and sports memorabilia for over three decades.  Only recently have I found it neccessary to sell pieces of my collection.  When I went to research items like mine I was suprised about the misinformation that is out there.

The autographs, signatures that I posess were obtained by friends or me in person.  Most times we were able to take a picture with the athlete if time allowed, we did not need DNA analysis to prove the signature was genuine, I was there.  Now years later when I have to sell a few items to cover medical expenses, I have been asked if my item is PSA certified.  I did my research on their site and I do not see the point in spending money to tell me something I already know.  I will issue a double refund if my autographs do not pass any third party authentication.

How genuine are these items listed as consignments?  The seller simply says that is how he received the item.  What's to say that these are not fakes with the seller able to avoid blame by claiming it as a consignment.

Letters & Certificate of Authenticity are a joke, anyone with a printer can issue one of these, keep this in mind when bidding on autograph memorabilia.

Ask questions, an honest seller is happy to answer.  I like sharing the story of how I went to the stadium five hours before game time waiting for the players to drive in so that I could take a chance that they might sign my item.

Too many = Too FAKE, when players are signing, they try to accomodate as many fans as possible.  They want everyone to leave happy.  You get your item signed and than the player moves to the next seeker.  I have never seen a player sign a dozen items at once (without you paying a premium price at a sports show) so be wary of sellers offering multiple items baring the same signature.

Now that we have reached the digital age it is easy to snap a picture and have it on my laptop.  I have photographs of most of my recent autographs, just ask and I can send you a copy.

This is some information that I think the buyer needs to be aware of.  If you found any part of this helpful will you please check the helpfulfulness box below.

Thank you..
