TRUE RELIGION AUTHENTICITY 2007
Keeping in mind that all the advice in part 1 regarding the stitching and wash quality holds true for ALL styles, there are now a whole host of new pocket styles, hardware, patches, etc. Below are the best hints for picking out the fakes of these new guys! Let's take a look at the NEW INNER TAG first. Mens and womens tags used to be different (womens had a horseshoe, mens had a buddha), they are now THE SAME. Here it is:

One of the new styles this year is the Painted pocket. These are made for both men and women, in various cuts/styles and with many colorful paint colors. The horseshoe shape on these are designer to look like someone haphazardly streaked on paint, in a streaky incomplete manner. There are "gaps" within the paint, and the ends are made to look like the brush trailed off while running out of paint. As such, both ends ("wings") of the horseshoe are NOT full and straight, but jagged. The horseshoe still fills inside the pocket evenly and fully like you would expect from TR! Let's now compare 2 real-deals, and 2 fakes:

Note the new script True Religion writing, with the tail of the E in True connecting to the R in Religion. Whereas the J in Jeans used to always be dipped below the level of the other letters, it is now actually ever so slightly ABOVE the other letters (barely noticeable)

REAL FAKE!!!
Let's see what we notice above. First off, note that on this women's style we see the new pocket flap shape on the real pair on the left, which is essentially the opposite of the classic pocket, in that it is curved in a rounded fashion. Note the horseshoe's gaps and feathery look, like streaked on uneven paint, and how it fills the pocket INSIDE the lines of the stitching and is well centered. Now look on the fake on the right.... the wings of the horseshoe are too defined, not quite feathery on the edges enough although they attempted to make them look jagged. But the big telltale sign here... The horseshoe DOES NOT FIT INSIDE THE POCKET. Not only does the left side wing on both pockets not go far enough left (doesn't touch the 1st side seam ), look how it runs off the bottom right all the way to the bottom of the pocket edge, over the stitching.
Let's now see the MENS version:

FAIL!
Let's now see the MENS version:
REAL FAKE!!!
On the real pair on the left, note that the mens version has the traditional Joey curve pocket (this style also comes in Bobby non-flap), and the new leather waistband patch. Again, the horseshoe fills the pocket in the exact same way, every time. Full and well centered. Again, the "wings" trail off jaggedly.
Now look at the fake on the right.... first off, it has the WRONG PATCH. It is traditional cloth instead of leather. Then look at the pocket:
Now look at the fake on the right.... first off, it has the WRONG PATCH. It is traditional cloth instead of leather. Then look at the pocket:
- It does not have the proper curve on the flap, it is too straight (see Part 1 of this guide for more flap shape comparisons)
- The horseshoe paint DOES NOT LINE UP from the pocket to the flap. The horseshoe portion on the flap should overlie PERFECTLY onto the portion on the pocket.
- The left side of the horseshoe "wings" ARE SOLID AND SMOOTH. Where is the jagged uneven trail? Not there. They also go all the way to the outside of the pocket past the seams on the entire extent of the wing edge.
FAIL!!!

**NEW POCKET DESIGN**
The new pocket shape's most differing feature is the new overlapping area on the horseshoe. With the new wings overlying the arc of the horseshoe, is formed a distinct Triangle area within. The wings still have a very slight gentle curve downward as always, and the horseshoe fills the pocket fully and smoothly.
REAL #1 REAL #2 (full pocket and detail)
FAKE #1 FAKE #2
- In the FAKE #1 you will note I have placed red dots inside the "triangle" I am referring to. The first thing I'd like you to note is that on the 2 real pairs above, this triangle IS NOT AN EQUILATERAL TRIANGLE (does not have all 3 sides of equal length), whereas on the fake it clearly is.
- Second, note that the fake #1 has TOTALLY STRAIGHT lines on the wings. Another -10 points for the scammers. The entire horseshoe is too short, squatty, and totally malformed.
- The back leather patch on fake #1 looks like plastic. It is too brightly colored, too smooth, and too "perfect" overall. We all know real leather doesn't look like that.
- The stitching looks like crap as usual. They will never get that Super T 5-thread stitch right, will they? Look at that awful haphazard tacking stitch at the top corners of the pocket.
- On fake #2 - the triangle is much better here, but THE HORSESHOE IS TOO LOW ON THE POCKET/does not fill properly. Compare to real #2 where the top of the horseshoe ends very precisely where it MEETS the flap. Fake #2 clearly ends well below the flap
- On fake #2 - Note on the real #2 detail picture that the inner seam on the side of the pocket flap IS CURVED. The seam on fake #2 is clearly STRAIGHT.
FAIL! FAIL!
**HERITAGE POCKETS**
TR Heritage line now has many many new styles. These feature a new elongated shaped horseshoe (lovingly referred to as the "boob" pocket on Authenticforum. lol), which is completely different from tradtional horseshoes. These also have new buttons and rivets.
