Buying a fine timepiece online can be an overwhelming venture. I have done it, and wanted to share a few tips to help insure your experience is a positive one. There are some great watch dealers on Ebay, and you can get some great deals!
-Only buy from sellers that are authorized dealers, or have extensive feedback pertaining to your purchase. Buying from someone with a good reputation that IS NOT an authorized dealer will usually save you money. That being said just be aware that the manufacturers warranty may be void.
-Don't be afraid to ask for references and additional pictures. a reputable seller should be happy to oblige.
-Know what you are buying...I would not recommend buying a watch that you have never seen in person. Find your local dealer and try on the model that you are considering, before shopping for it online. Most sellers offer no returns, or there may be a restocking fee. When you're spending this kind of money, you have to make sure you like it first. It's only a good deal, if you like it!
-Be realistic. You can save 10, 20, or even 50% on a fine timepiece, but getting a $10,000 watch for $800 is not very realistic.
-Above all, DO YOUR RESEARCH! Don't jump in to anything. If you educate yourself, your experience should be a good one. Hope this helps!
