Before reading this, there is an extremely high chance that if you buy Dolce & Gabbana products from eBay, they will be fake. Here, i will inform you in great detail of the most significant difference between real and fake Dolce & Gabbana products - The hologram. Other various details will also be included.

Firstly, i am a proud owner of authentic Dolce & Gabbana products, which were purchased from genuine retailers.
I have also owned fake Dolce & Gabbana products, which were purchased through eBay. The information provided in this guide is from my observations of authentic and fake Dolce & Gabbana products, and from other information provided by various individuals.

Please spread reviews like this to help prevent the sales of and therefore the production of counterfeit goods.

How to identify the differences.

There are many types of fake Dolce & Gabbana products. This guide is based on Dolce & Gabbana garments such as shirts. Miscellaneous items such as watches, belt buckles etc. may differ.

1. The hologram.
The official hologram sticker has dimensions of 15x15mm, with rounded corners begining 1mm from the edges.
The authentic hologram initially appears to be a plain silver/rainbow reflective piece. However only on very close inspection are words visible.
Fake holograms are easily legible, even at a distance.

The authentic hologram features the following:
'DG' in a large font. These two letters are connected.
The '&' symbol taking up the majority of the hologram. It is produced by many 'Dolce & Gabbana' words connected in a row.
The background is simply Dolce & Gabbana written horizontally across the hologram. It's hardly visible.

Like all Dolce & Gabbana products, the hologram is manufactured with quality in mind. Therefore it is printed and cut perfectly.
Fake holograms often have dodgy and/or cheap printing. There're often cut at slight angles, and some fake holograms have other minor errors such as a lack of a space between the & and Gabbana, hence "Dolce &Gabbana".
If there is no hologram apparent, it is a fake item.

2. The product tag.
Obviously, new Dolce & Gabbana products should be tagged. This tag should feature a seperate section, or another seperate tag where this hologram is situated. The main giveaway with holograms on tags is that authentic Dolce & Gabbana tags have the hologram printed onto the tag, rather than fakes which have hologram stickers simply placed onto the tag.
This tag should also have "Dolce & Gabbana Industria S.P.A." written in uppercase, followed by a stamped serial number.
On the reverse side of this tag, it should read the following::
"Certificate of authenticity the security hologram guarantees the product's quality and authenticity"
This should be written in uppercase, and in several languages. I can identify the language order as: Italian, English, Spanish, German, French. There are other languages that follow, however i cannot identify them.
Fake tags can have a completely different statement, such as "The security hologram guarantees the authenticity of this product." (Note the full stop on fake tags.)

3. The inner tag.
On the inside left seam of authentic garments, another two tags can be found. The first tag also features a hologram, which is identical to the hologram on the product tag. However unlike the on product tag, this hologram is a sticker that is stuck on the tag, as it cannot be printed onto fabric. The reverse side of this tag has the same statement as the product tag, however it is only in Italian.
The second tag has 'Dolce & Gabbana', 'Made in Italy' and the percentage of materials written on it. The reverse of this tag has garment care symbols, along with "Dolce & Gabbana Industria S.P.A.", again in uppercase.
Fake inner tags can feature fabric holograms, which are nothing like the real thing. On the garment care tag, printing quality is poor, and the symbols can be very pixilated or blurry. Also, fakes don't often have 'Made in Italy' anywhere on the garment.

4. Collar tag/Size.
On authentic items, situated under the collar tag of the garment, a small tag with a number on it indicates the size of the piece of clothing using the european scale.
Fake items can feature collar tags with letter sizes. (S, M, L etc.)

Tips to purchasing.

These are some simple tips that can be taken to prevent purchasing fake Dolce & Gabbana clothing.

1. Ask the seller questions.
Ask the seller basic questions which may hint whether the item is real or fake, such as if the item features the hologram.

2. Make sure the price is realistic. (Buy It Now.)
No one sells products to make a loss, especially Dolce & Gabbana. If the price is too good to be true, it probably is. Don't fall for it.

3. Pay with PayPal.
If you're unsure whether your item is fake, it's better to be safe than sorry. Sellers often get caught selling fake products, and therefore close their eBay accounts before sending the items out to those who've purchased them.
Paying with PayPal will provide you with protection from scammers.

4. Make sure the seller accepts refunds.
Once again, just to be on the safe side. Many of those who sell fake Dolce & Gabbana products do not accept refunds.

I hope this information is helpful.
Thank you for taking the time to read it, and all the best in purchasing your Dolce & Gabbana products.
