I have been wearing buying and selling Gucci for many years.  I sell many bags that I purchase at two outlets and two other sources that I have for authentic Gucci imperfects.  I see many auctions that are not authentic and report them every day.  Right now there is one ending and it is killing me the seller has a Neiman Marcus receipt, well I see this big plastic contro card and Gucci does not make them. 

Gucci is not always easy because they do make many changes, the majority of bags I sell and wear are last season.  For example the 05 black scarf tote has a black lining while the 06 has a burlap beige lining.  You simply have to know the product.  I know my Gucci and anyone can email me anytime with any questions regarding specific items.  Scarf totes NEVER are made of pebbled leather alway smooth leather and the scarf has no solid border to it, many fakes do.

Gucci is one of the few designers who does sell wholesale and imperfects at their stores.  There are only four in the US that sell imperfects.  Be careful of the contro, they never make black plastic laminated cards.  Know the product, the large monograms do not have Gucci logo on the zipper pull inside, it is just a leather tab.  The 05 large monograms have cream stitching while the 06 and 07 have brown stitching.  The 07 has some extra stitching on the bottom.  All large monograms canvas have a seam across the center on the bottom.  The color of the horsebit detail depends on the bag.  The medium cream guccissima has the lightest of gold hardward while the black canvas has a dark almost like titanium cool color hardwar, never gold on that bag.  The large monogram cream handle canvas has goldtone hardware.  The exception with the zipper pull is that I have seen and I collect vintage Gucci items that have Gucci embossed in the leather zipper pull tab.  Before you buy a bag and save some money you might want to go to the store to see what this seasons looks like.  The seller should always disclose the season and if any imperfections. I say this because Gucci makes alot of seasonal changes and for example the large gg hobos for 07 DO have Gucci impressed in the zipper pull inside the bag. I say this about the seasonal thing because a bag from 05 or 06 may look different from 07 yet may still be authentic!  Always use paypal and always use a seller who has a full return policy.  All sales are final does not apply to handbags on ebay!

I sell only authentic Gucci that I mostly purchase from the outlet store.  Some items I have carried and sell used and I always disclose in my listings.  I have a website and have just applied to purchase direct from Gucci. 

I made a large purchase of Chloe bags on ioffer.com several weeks ago and I am embarrased but they were all three FAKE!  They are useless bags and the seller had "neiman marcus" receipts, they are fake also.  This is the seller I am talking about in the beginnning of this guide, she is listing a copy of a receipt.  She does not take paypal and I tried to pay with bidpay for protection and they would not take any money for ioffer.com(no one should from my experience).  So I thought well she has receipts and sent her $1000 for three bags!  I emailed her and told her she stole from me and did not of course hear back from her.  I am filing internet fraud charges right now, I feel bad, though for the people bidding on all her fake stuff she has listed.  Never take a copy of a receipt as an original receipt.  This person does not have access to authentic bags, she has access to authentic receipts!  I have reported her but it will be too late!  I will be calling through the power seller portal later on.

The lesson her, email someone who knows the current and last season Gucci for the specific item.  NEVER think that a copy of a receipt means anything.  She told me she had original receipts and she mailed some copies, anyone can get copies.  I will have her shut down by the end of the week.  I hope this helps, please pay attention to the contro and remember Gucci does not make black plastic cards.  Some new items for this summer have very cool leather cards.  I make many trips to the store to check out and sometimes purchase Gucci so I do know these things.

ADENDUM:  Important updated information for buyers and sellers, Gucci large and medium horsebit hobos for Spring 2008 have new bottom row model numbers.  We have used this information to determine authenticity and will update you as soon as we have the exact numbers.  Most items sold online are out of season so the previous numbers count.  We recommend that everyone ask the seller what season the horsebit hobo is before buying.
