Colin Tabeart wrote this comprehensive tome about the postal history of packet mail between these three countries. He uses many gridded tables, illustrations, and footnotes to prove his many points. This is a 421 page book in hard-cover, published in 2004
He takes a very serious analytical approach. Some chapters are about packet rates between locations and other chapters are about specific routes. One of the best chapters is called Pacific Routes. He details all of the outbound and homebound sailing of vessels in the 1860’s-70’s. Departure and arrival dates are included. Many tables, maps, and illustrations are used to show his points.
This book retails at $90. It is deep in knowledge and well done so it is worth that price. Only serious packet history collectors will read it completely but it is also good for the intermediate level collector.
