Saw a very nice VW Passat station wagon on Ebay. (40% below BB) Car was parked at a friends house so hard to arrange to look at it (never did).  Wanted me to go through a 'holding' company in California.  Went to the website and it sounded legit.  I had to finance part of the cost but the seller really pressed me to send $$$ (down pmt.) to this holding company.  The bank I was getting my loan from got nervous when all they could get from the holding company was a machine.  Anyway, 3-4 days passed (with daily telephone contact from seller and pressure for down pmt.).  BOOM!  No more website, Calif. lic. # was fake, seller's phone disconnected. Too good to be true!
