Now anyone who is reading this has probably either bought a fake video game or has a friend who has. Well not many people know what to look for to determine if its real or a fake. Now im not going to bash on foriegn sellers here or what not, but I always look for US sellers to start. A couple tips here.. ALWAYS look at the feedback!!!! I cannot stress this enough! Look at the number of positive sales, if it is 100% I would be more at easy buying from them! Cycle through and read the Negative feedbacks, sometimes its a shipping issue, alot of the time they are fake games! Try to watch out for wholesalers who have numerous copies of older games "brand new" but we took it out of the package to test it. NEW GAMES WORK!!! This is just a bugus lie to say we pirated the game and made sure it works!
Things to look out for!
Nintendo games are the easist to copy! Sony PS2/3 PSP, Microsoft Xbox/360 and Wii/Gamecube use discs formatted specially not for pirating. I personally have not seen a pirated newer gen Disc drive game. However it is not impossible, if you think it is copied, simply do not buy it.
DS games are a little rarer pirated, but is absolutely possible! You may notice if it does come with a box, carefully look at the box. if it is even the slightest bit blury its not real. Nintendo DOES NOT make box art blury! Also look at he game itself, any questions about the look of the games sticker, research it on the internet, im sure you can find a real one. Also look at the instruction manual, if they are not instructions its fake. When you start the game up, it should be apparent within 5 minutes if its real. The music will sound a little off key, the visuals may be a little off, and the controls may be slower than you would expect.
Nintendo GBA games are the most copied games. There is 3 real good ways to tell before you purchase it if its in your hands. First off look at the picture on the game. Is is blurry or dont look right. Crooked perhaps? Next look at the back of it. The set screw.. does it have a triwing or phillips head screw. Everyone knows what a phillips head looks like, it has 4 points. A triwing only has 3 and Nintendo ONLY uses these, they NEVER use the phillips. Next flip it with the motherboard looking at you from the bottom of the cartridge and carefully read the words. NO WORDS IS A FAKE!! Every Nintendo game says Nintendo, it may have a date and a will have a number like AGD-E04-04. Also on Pokemon games or games you can see through the cart, is the board flat looking with small resistors or does it have a big yellow and chrome looking battery. Nintendo doesnt use those either. Putting it in the GBA or DS may actually play, but not well. Again the game will feel fake, Whether it be the sound, controls, or visuals. The game may even glitch or say "gave save data ok or corrupted" Again FAKE!!! If it comes with the box, is it super shiny and smooth or blurry? Nintendo does not wax the boxes so they should not be glossier than a freshly painted car!
