Today my review is based on the Asus EEE 1000HE netbook that has been recently released by Asus. This new netbook has been upgraded to a new N280 atom processor. It also features the new chiclet style keyboard. One of the most remarkable upgrades that puts Asus EEE into competition with other netbooks is the chiclet style keyboard. Most users who preferred to buy a HP mini based on their keyboard now have a new option. If they choose this netbook, they get close to 9 hrs of battery life. they get the same 92% keyboard that performs less than or equal to the HP mini. Performance wise, the 1000HE isn't much different from the standard 1000. Even though the new processor features a 0.03ghz difference, you won't see any performance jumps. The one thing that you get with the new processor is the low voltage non-power sucking processor. You get the same speed but more battery life.
My word of advice is that you upgrade the 1gb Ram to a new stick of 2gb ram. It's an easy upgrade and does not take a genious to do so. All you need to do is unscrew the back cover, unclip the ram and loosen it from the slot. Pop in the new one and clip it in snuggly and your read to run the new stick of ram. Another possible upgrade for those enthusiast that complain about standard hard drive speed, you can look for the new Patriot Warp SSD lineup. You have the option to upgrade to 32gb, 64gb, 128gb. Make sure that your getting the right model and that it's the SATA connection version. The price might be hefty, but it's definitely the best upgrade one can do. The harddrive installation is just like the ram, same access door, but a little more screws to deal with. visit this youtube link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gPcGb_Hdyg) to get an idea of bootup and performance on the SSD
The next thing you can do is visit Fidohub to get a touch panel kit to install to your netbook. this would change your netbook to a touch panel netbook in the matter of hrs. It is perfect for this machine.
good luck and i hope you like this review, please rate the helpfulness.
