As eBay continues to grow, more and more art buyers and new artists come here to check out the art scene.  What most of these new people don't know is that there are hundreds of artist groups on eBay and many of them are open to anyone wishing to join that group.  If a group is not accepting new members, it will be marked as 'private'.

You must first click on  the tab at the top of the page marked 'Community' which is on the same bar above as Buy, Sell, and My eBay.  The page will list out the various categories of groups available on eBay.  Art and artists is one of these groups and when you click on that one, hundreds of groups will appear in alphabetical order.

If you are a new artist, I would highly recommend that you join a couple of these groups and get to know your fellow artists.  You can find groups of abstract artists, fantasy and science fiction artists, realism, impressionism, ACEOs....you name it.  eBay has a group for nearly any type of art that you can imagine.  Sculptors, photographers, writers, jewelers, etc etc...they are all listed.

Art collectors and buyers have their own groups, and very often are right in there along with the artists themselves.  If you have a favorite artist, this is one way to get to know that person much better.  Within the group, you can get a list of names of the members and this way find out if your favorite artist is on that list.  Lots of insightful information is contained in the various discussions and 'threads' within these art groups.

You can learn a great deal from other artists this way.  Post your question in any of the groups, and you will more than likely have multiple replies to it.  Anything from displays to painting techniques and materials to how to market the artwork along with scores of other possibilities can be discussed with artists from around the world.  You can even find someone to paint a commissioned work for you this way.

Once you become familiar with the group setting and how it all works, you might even decide to start your very own group.  You can invite anyone that you wish to become a member of your group...or for that matter, any group in which you are a member.

This social interaction has proven to be very rewarding to me as an artist as I have learned many new and exciting marketing techniques and strategies for my own artwork.  I have made many friends along the way as well.  The highlight of all of this, of course, is finding other people who make you laugh out loud and bring joy to your life.  Have fun in the groups and contact me anytime if you have any further questions about eBay groups.
