Jasper County, South Carolina is located between Savannah, Ga. and Hilton Head Island, SC. More importantly, Jasper County has about 30 miles of frontage on the Savannah River, and direct access to the Atlantic Ocean and the Coastal marsh tidelands and beaches. The significance of this is that, for the purpose of Artifact Hunting, (and Civil War items), it is a "Target-Rich" part of the country. Further, because of temporate environment and location, this area is home to the OLDEST POTTERY in NORTH AMERICA *, some of which dates back to 4500 years Before Present! (This pre-dates Anasazi by some 3000 years!!). The Savannah River was an early version of an aquatic Interstate Highway, and must have had tremendous traffic for centuries, judging by the large amounts of artifacts present along its banks. Two of the oldest pottery types are "Stallings" and "Thom's Creek"- both of which territories converge and overlap on Jasper County. This is what set me on my quest to seek artifacts, and has proven fruitful for many years. If you look at the artifacts presented at SHARP ART & COLLECTIONS, please keep these thoughts in mind, and if you buy, or not, please enjoy them as much as I have.
As my store progresses, I hope to have many very nice custom, hand-made folding knives, as well as antique fishing equipment, and the occasional "Bizarre" item.
Thanks for visiting. Come back anytime.
