Wrapping and Fletching your own arrows can be fun and save you a ton of money. Here is a general guideline for wrapping arrows with Primal Rage Outdoors arrow wraps:
1. Make Sure you clean the arrow shafts and eliminate any possibility of grease, wax, etc. The cleaner the arrow shaft the better chance for a quality job without any peeling.
2. Remove the wrap from the release liner, try not to get finger prints all over the glue side of the wrap. Place the wrap glue side up on a rubber matt ( a mouse pad works great for this purpose and allows even pressure when rolling the wrap onto the shaft.)
3. Align your arrow shaft along the leading edge of the wrap, this is a hand eye lineup, the straighter you can get the shaft now the cleaner the finished product.
4. Slowly roll the shaft so that the edge of the wrap catches, make sure there are no wrinkles or dust in the wrap at this time.
5. now continue to roll the wrap onto the shaft , use good , slow even pressure. Remember this isn’t a race.
6. Take your time to check the edge seam. Overlap is good because the vinyl will adhere to the vinyl below itself and make a nice tight seam.
7. Now sit back and enjoy the quality of your new wrap !, fletch it up with your favorite feather or vanes and head to the woods.
Some things to Consider:
1. Matte Finish Custom Wraps can be made glossy, after you wrap then on your shaft, you can seal them with a automotive grade clear coat spray (available at any larger store or auto shop) this will make the colors pop and also seal up the seams and leading edge of the wrap. Let it dry overnight and fletch it up.
2. Gloss wraps can be spray sealed as well to help with holding color.
3. Our die cut patterns are cut from gloss vinyl, but a sealer would help make sure none of the cut patterns tear or peel.
4. Laminated wraps are a little thicker, so using heat can be your best friend. A blow dryer or heat gun can be used to gently heat the wrap to not only allow for easy wrapping but will start the adhesive activation process that much faster. Do not overheat the wraps or they may warp and crack.
5. Above all– Have fun, but remember this is your baby, you are responsible for the final outcome, the more time you take cleaning and preparing the components, the better chance for a quality job. Best of Luck
