Ebay is very user friendly so don't be afraid to start listing YOUR items here. If you are thinking of using Ebay as a part-time or full-time source of income, you are making a SMART choice. Even small sales can increase your net worth over time!
I've included some basic tips for new Ebayer - to help you increase your sales as quickly as possible while maintaining excellent feedback - but first , CONSIDER THIS: Learn How Much You can Save by selling even a few items a week on Ebay

I hope the above link shows you that even SMALL sales can make a difference!

NOW SOME BASIC TIPS TO FINE TUNE YOUR BUSINESS MODEL:

1.
If you have zero or low feedback, consider buying some items to give potential buyers some idea of how you handle transactions. They will know that you pay promptly and have something to go on.

2. Before you list do some basic research. For example, I sold this book for good price because I knew what normal the selling price was on Ebay as well as its probable value. This allowed me to list it at a fair opening price and get a sale:

3. Allow time for your business to grow. Like any business, you need to allow for start-up costs, packing materials, fees, etc. There is a learning curve and that keeps things interesting. Ebay is continually evolving and adding new features.

4. List accurately. To me this means pretend you are a potential buyer. Did you include everything you'd want to see? Is the description accurate, did you include measurements (if applicable) or clear information about condition? DO NOT mislead the buyer; be clear. People will buy items that are not perfect. They will not, however, be likely to buy from you again if you do not list accurately. Plus, you risk a negative feedback. Don't chance it.

5. List in the right category. If you have a children's book children's book  it is probably not going to get noticed, if at all, by putting it in nonfiction books. Find the most specific category you can.

6. Find the right keywords for your title and subtitle. Again, think like a buyer. If you wanted to buy a Star Wars figure,   Star Wars , perhaps yo u'd want to know the exact name of that figure as well as date made, whether it is still in its box, etc. List every detail that seems important

7. Take clear photos. Items with photos sell far more than those without.

8. Use Gallery option

9. Be clear about methods of payment accepted and when you expect payment.

10. COMMUNICATE CLEARLY. I can't stress this enough. Be sure to let buyers know you've received payment as well as when their items if shipped. Thank them for feedback. Ask if they want to be on your mailing list or know of related items.

12. If you get an abusive email from an unhappy buyer, DO NOT RESPOND IN KIND. Always be professional, maintain a calm tone. Take the high road and be a professional seller. Keep your cool. If you feel in danger, however, contact Ebay's Security department and/or Live Chat. You will get useful tips on how to handle such emails. These types of emails are very, very rare and I've been selling here for 8 years. I've had perhaps 1 or 2 at most.

Even if you make a few mistakes, good customer service will result in repeat business and stronger sales. Acknowledge any mistakes, make it right and learn from any mistakes.
