To understand the recent trend of amazing sky high prices for the ICCS certified MS 65 and better silver coins of the Canada Young head series of 1953 -1964, one has to appreciate some past history to make the comment that "prices are crazy and must come down as there are thousands around!". Some facts to consider are thus. One is the coins were made as currency with no care or consideration with respect to numismatists or to future posterity. There were relatively few coin collectors or dealers in Canada until the middle 1960's ( approx.1963-64). Most of the so called roll and bag hoards are gone and most of the remaining stuff is from 1963-on .Over the last 35 plus years ,I have personally searched literally thousands of original bags and rolls and can state with certainty that most of the coins ,especially those from bags range in grade from MS-58- to 64 at very best.It is indeed a rare find when one encounters a mark free Gem with good eye appeal! Do not bet on price drops anytime soon! Thanks Jack Ebay id paccoin
