Aquamarine is the gemstone associated with the month of March.  In the middle ages people thought that the gemstone could protect them from poison.  In Ancient times sailors traveled with Aquamarine crystals for good luck.


Aquamarine is a transparent gemstone having a pretty color of blue or turquoise like the sky or the sea.  The name in fact comes from two Latin words: aqua and mare that mean water and sea.   It is closely related to Emeralds.  On the Mohs scale of hardness it is ranked 7.5 to 8 and has a wonderful luster.
