I have found that the use of expensive tools to help you place your decals is really not a necessity...basic things you find at home do an excellent job...a que-tip, toothpick, tweezers a razor blade, good quality sissors and a pencil make up my tool kit.
I have found that placing the decal on the model while dry and then marking the areas that need to be trimmed with a pencil allows you to make the the proper cuts so the decals will fit. If you place the decals you have cut back to back with the decals for the otherside of the car and make the same cuts you will find that the decals will be perfectly aligned on both sides of you model.
You can also use a heat lamp to help speed the drying process for your decals...always wait until one side is perfectly dry before you attempt to do the other side...
Once the decals are set and dry you can seal them using one of several methods, you can spray a clear coat seal on the car, or you might use clear fingernail polish or "Micro Sol".
I hope this helps those of you just starting out....
