Take a moment to look at eBay's listing guidelines that they have released for the sale of Apple iPhones and you will notice that they are going to REQUIRE the use of Paypal as the ONLY method to pay for these things. Ebay owns Paypal and although the claim is that they are doing it to "increase buyer protection and reduce fraud"what that really means is that THEY WANT TO MONOPOLIZE THE PROFITS OF AFTERMARKET SALES OF THIS ITEM because the phone is going to be a huge seller. Somehow Bidpay,USPS money orders, personal checks (always kinda iffy anyway) and cash are somehow good enough ...er..."secure" enough for them not to bother on all the other auctions that are running on their site but the iPhone is special? Somehow, because there is a release date on the iPhone, suddenly they have taken steps to curtail fraud on their auction site - at least for one item only? What about all of the other boat, car, electrontic scams on eBay going on right now?!! This represents a major moral and ethical lapse on eBay's part - Ebay is trying to force everyone interested in this item to have a Paypal account so that they can take a piece of all the money that is being paid out. Everyone, do yourselves a favor and if/when you buy one of these units, buy it from Apple - no hidden agendas, no warranty problems, NO CHANCE OF FRAUD. My guess is that they (Apple) are not going to tell you that you have to use Paypal in order to be "safe". Besides - all of the Apple products that are for sale on eBay are refurbished or used - Apple also sells certified refurbished items on their site that have a warranty - just you try to get a seller to take back a DOA unit and refund your money. Do you really think that Apple would keep their prices constant to all retailers -Costco, Bestbuy, CompUSA, etc... but then give some random eBay seller who claims to "have an in" a lower price so that he could go list it on eBay and make a profit that Apple could have made? If you believe that, well hey, then you'll believe that eBay is looking to curb "fraud" when they say "Paypal only".
