Currenty Apple is recalling batteries for their iBook & PowerBook G3/G4 models. Beware, there are sellers on eBay selling these batteries. eBay forebids the sale of recalled items, it is easy to disguise these batteries. If you are buying an orignial Apple OEM battery, you should request the model number and serial number from the seller, then check the Apple website to verify the battery is not part of the recall. If you receive a recalled battery, you should contact the seller, and notify eBay. Although Apple will replace the battery for free, if your iBook or PowerBook serial number is part of the recall.
I received one of these batteries from a seller on eBay, who denied selling it. A long story short, eBay pulled the listing, and I am stuck with negative feedback, 1/2 my money back and waiting for a replacement battery from Apple.
