The Graphite Basestation was apples first basestation. The ports in the back of the basestation are as fallows: 1 Ethernet Port, 1 56k Modem, 1 Power port. The Ethernet port allows you to connect to high-speed Internet connections. The 56K modem is for dial-up connections.
This basestation uses the 802.11b standard for broadcasting. Most 802.11g devices (all Apple devices!) are compatible with 802.11b. The 802.11g device will simply slow down to the 802.11b standard when communicating to the basestation.) This means that it will broadcast at 11MBPS. This is fast enough for the high-speed Internet connections. With the 802.11b standard, you can have 11 users connected to the basestation at once. Therefore, your network cannot have more than 11 computers at once. This is usually not a problem for most households or small businesses.
This basestation does not have a USB port like the apple airport extreme model. Therfore, this can not be used as a usb print server.
I would suggest using the graphite basestation for most households and small businesses that just want an affordable wireless router for their Internet connection.
