In the market of antiques and collectibles you will find a ton of negative remarks when it comes to reproductions, but for me they have a purpose especially when it comes to decorating.
One of the newest trends in home decor is using primitives mixed with shabby or chic with a mix of country style - I love a home decorated with a primitive decor.
The cool thing that I love about this form of decorating is however you define it - You add your personal style and blend in your decor with antiques and collectibles - Rules are however you set them and nothing is set in stone. You simply take some rustic pieces "Old or New" and let your artistic self run with it.
When it comes to antiques & collectibles, I recommend that you leave them in the condition that you found them in because in many cases if you change them in any way they will loose value! If you want to paint or varnish or even change them in any way, you should purchase a reproduction of the item and add your own tastes and flair!
You can take old furniture and mix in all the high - tech decor as long as you have a unifying theme in your decor.
The concept behind mixing old with new for a primitive look is to simply choose a theme.
You will find that a primitive decor will provide a comfortable and warm ambiance to your home such as adding old boxes and baskets in a kitchen or living room will be a positive accent. Adding pottery to a hall or bathroom will make it feel like warmth and simplicity to all that enter.
Remodeling with primitives doesn't have to expensive when you purchase reproductions and best of all you do not have to worry about damage to a prized treasure or expensive antique.
You can visit my Listings to see what I have to offer - If it looks like a reproduction I will tell you!
