Here is a short guide to some more sights of Charleston, South Carolina...in this guide I will show you some antique accents around the city that you will notice when you get to visit there.
The above picture is  by St. Phillips church off Church St. The wrought iron gates here go all around this 1700's Episcopal church , and the church has put a cute sign on one of their fences to their adjoining grave yards ,( many graveyards in this town ) , that reads , " The only spirit in this graveyard is the HOLY SPIRIT. " I suppose they are sending a message to all the tourists who take the ghost tours here to look for some spooky spirits, instead of God's Holy ghost.

Here is an authentic Charleston bench with heavy wrought iron. There is only one company that makes these off King St., ( Geo C. Birlant's & Co. ) ,from the original old mold , and these are not like the faux or newer " Charleston -style' benches that you see in stores. Working on definitely getting one of these one day !

This was an antique wrought iron bench outside of our favorite downtown hotel in Charleston , The Indigo Inn. Another good hotel we like is the Andrew Pinckney Inn ...they are both smack in the middle of the Market area . Perfect to be able to walk everywhere you want to go. There are lots of downtown hotels available for tourists..check them out online.

Another accent you see besides brick paved paths or slate, is you see many marble tiled walkways, especially along the Battery area.

There are various types of Charleston shutters , and here was an original pair that fit the windows, which by the way were etched and frosted glass windows...when they close. Always made of wood, no vinyl shutters  allowed, as they have a Historic Preservation Society here with very strict guidelines for renovations or repairs.

Another one of the Four Seasons concrete statues, I believe this little guy is Summer with his lush grapes. This is in the large garden , open to the public, of the Nathaniel Russel House on Meeting St.

Here is the Winter statue of the Four Seasons in the same garden. They have all the statues , except one little guy does not have his head anymore....I think it was Fall. ( I guess appropriate ).

Also around the neighborhoods of Charleston , you see white picket fences combined with the wrought iron.

Here is the bronze statue of Mercury at the Calhoun mansion on Meeting St. I have not taken tours of houses here , as I am so enthralled with the gardens...but out of all I have seen, this one is the one I would spend the money for a tour to see ,( it has 24,000 sq. feet, a ballroom, 14 foot ceilings, 35 rooms and more ). When you go by these houses, they have signs saying when tours are and also have some ads in the guide books when you go to the Visitor's center downtown.

I hope you are able to go to Charleston, South Carolina one day and plan on staying many days to be able to see all the sights. If you come in the Summer, please know that it is very hot and humid , June through August especially. But the city is beautiful all year round , the gardens even more so in the Spring and Summer.
I have many short guides about Charleston , check them out if you have time,
Thanks !
 Gina
