I've had good dealings with Rice Paddy some years ago, but looking at the complaints I've been seeing pop up like weeds, it seems things have changed. I'm yet another victim who has the Attorney General breathing down this business' neck.
I ordered two shirts from them in mid-November of last year. I paid for them immediately using PayPal. I never heard from Rice Paddy in response to my order or my payment. I emailed them asking if I was going to get the shirts before Christmas, since they were supposed to be presents. No reply. January arrives. I email two more times. No reply. February comes and goes. PayPal says they won't do anything about the problem, and refuse to charge back the amount. So I decide it's time to call the Attorney General's office in Rice Paddy's home state. I file a complaint with them, and over the course of the next month and a half, I get periodic updates from the AG's office stating that they are unable to get in touch with actual human beings at Rice Paddy, but will keep trying. When they finally *do* reach Rice Paddy, RP denies there was a payment for the shirts. I provide transaction details to the AG. A week later, the AG calls, saying they need a statement from PayPal showing that the payment was actually made per the info we gave to the AG's office. PayPal refuses to provide anything on paper. The AG says they will continue to pursue it as best they can.
So in short, I paid for shirts from them SEVEN MONTHS ago, and they never sent the shirts and refuse to acknowledge they have my money, as well as refusing to return it, of course. Since I live in California, it's going to be a hard one to pursue without it costing a hell of a lot more than I paid for the shirts. But I generally will do things on principle alone, even if the outcome is a financial loss, just to keep people from getting away with this sort of crap. And it will certainly make a nice news article at some point...
