Angels and Airwaves - A Guide to AVA
Angels and Airwaves is an alternative rock band with some pretty impressive roots. The band was formed in 2005 by Tom DeLonge, one of the singers from the band Blink 182. The band also features members of highly influential punk and rock bands including bassist Ryan Sin from the Distillers, guitarist David Kennedy from Box Car Racer, and Atom Willard of The Offspring on drums.
Angels and Airwaves, also known as AVA, released their first album in May of 2006. The Album, the first single from the debut album "We Don't Need to Whisper," was leaked over the Internet before the record even hit the shelves. The band plans on touring in 2007 in support of the album, and several legs of the tour may feature former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker.
In addition to the new album, members of Angels and Airwaves are working together on a movie based on the life of Tom Delonge. Fans may be able to get a look at the trailer for the movie online at the official website for the band. You may be able to view the video for "The Adventure" as well as for the song "It Hurts."
Fans can listen to clips from the album online as well. The band originally intended on releasing the song "Valkyrie Missile" as the first single, so that's definitely a track to check out. You can hear a clip online to get an idea of the unique and original sound of this exciting new band. According to a recent interview, Delonge has described the band's sound as "cinematic" and "anthemic."
