There are several ways to determine an analine leather.~~. Lightly scratch the surface to see if it leaves a lighter color scratch mark. If it scratches to a lighter color, it could be analine. This is not the only test to do because some nubucks will do this also. ~~Wet your finger and lightly rub it into the leather to see if it darkens. It should darken lightly, but dry invisible.

Do not confuse analine leather with analine dyed leather!! Analine dyed leather is a leather that has been dyed with analine, a derivative of benzine, dyes as opposed to those colored  with opaque pigments.

Selecting the type of leather that best suits your needs and budget takes some time but in the long run is worth the effort.
