Beware of inflated spec's in some auctions. The RT686 model (686 Series), also known as the Rocky II, Rocky II+, Rocky Unlimited, etc. has a Pentium III processor, usually 500 MHz or 700 MHz, and a screen with 800x600 resolution. The RT686 Series was introduced in the 1999-2001 time period.

The Touch Screen and Daylight Readable Screen were options, and most of the computers on eBay DON'T have them. The auctions are worded as "capability of" or such. Doesn't mean the one for sale has it.

There is at least one seller that is mis-representing his Amrel laptops. He has copied information about CURRENT Amrel laptops into his auctions, implying that these are the specs for his laptops. He has specs labeled "ROCKY Mobile MT7-I SPECIFICATIONS" (the MT7 is a mobile CPU, not a laptop, and requires an external monitor and keyboard to function) touting an Intel Pentium M processor with 2MB Level-II cache, 512MB DDR RAM standard, expandable to 1GB, etc. He has links to product data sheets for the new Rocky Unlimited, the RT7-I, which touts an Intel Pentium Dothan processor, XGA screen (1024x768), etc. Since model numbers on the back of a laptop rarely match with it's name (for example my IBM T43 has a model number of 2668-NU3), it is easy to believe that he is selling laptops with these spec's.

Yes, I was fooled, and paid a premium for what I thought was going to be a better laptop than other people were selling. (Others have had these at a Buy It Now price of $50.) I bought one from him, it had a 500MHz Pentium III and was the same as all the others. I've e-mailed him this information, and yet he still hasn't changed his auctions. Yes, he did refund my money (but not my S/H both ways). Just BEWARE of what you are actually getting.

Amrel's Rocky laptop line-up from newest to oldest:
786EX Series (Rocky Unlimited/Unlimited RK, RT7-I & RK7-I)
786 Series (Rocky Unlimited/Unlimited RK)
686EX Series (Rocky Unlimited/Unlimited RK)
686 Series (Rocky II/II+/Unlimited/Unlimited RK)
RT586 Series (Rocky II)
RP586 (Rocky 1000+/Rocky Jr.+)
RC586 (Rocky Jr.)
