Determine the mounting location for your amplifier. This usually in the trunk, under a seat or behind the seat in pickup trucks. Ensure that there are no wiring harnesses, fuel tank and/or fuel lines, brake lines, etc., directly under the mounting location (inside and outside the vehicle) before drilling any holes.

Remove fuse from fuse holder if installed.  From the fuse holder, attach the short side of wire with pre-assembled ring terminal to the positive battery terminal. If the ring terminal assembled to wire is not suitable check the other ring terminals provided in the kit for a better fit. Mount Fuse holder within 18 inches of the battery. Roughly judge and cut the amount of wire need to reach from the positive battery terminal to the fuse holder. Loosen the allen set screw on the fuse holder at the wire inputs. Strip 3/8" insulation from one end of the newly cut wire, insert it into one end of the fuse holder and tighten securely. Connect the other end of the short wire with the ring terminal to the positive battery terminal. Strip 3/8" insulation from one end of the long length of wire, insert it into the other end of the fuse holder and tighten securely. Warning - Do not install the fuse until the amplifier installation is checked and complete.

Choose a path for the power cable. The best route is along the same side of the vehicle as the battery. Try to stay along the edge of the engine compartment or firewall. When routing the power-wire in the engine compartment use caution to avoid moving parts and high heat sources. Also, avoid high voltage ignition components such as spark plug wires to reduce the possibility of unwanted noise interference with the audio system.
Protect the wire in the engine compartment by covering it with the provided split loom tubing and securing it with the supplied wire ties.

Locate an existing rubber grommet on the firewall to pass the power cable in the passenger compartment. A good location can usually be found at the firewall on the drivers side of the vehicle where other wires enter the interior. If a factory grommet is not available, install the supplied snap grommet by drilling a hole in the firewall and then snapping the grommet into place. Ensure that there are no wiring harness, fuels lines, brake lines, etc., directly behind the firewall area before drilling any holes. Feed end of power cable through grommet and into vehicle.

Route the red power cable to the amplifier by removing any necessary trim panels and/or sill plates. Carefully route the power wire down the side of the vehicle under the sill plate (The sill plate is the plastic or metal you step over when entering the vehicle) or under the edge of the carpeting.

Remove head unit from dash. Refer to an automotive repair manual if you are unfamiliar with the head unit removal procedure. Strip a 1/4" of insulation form the 18 Gauge blue turn on wire, crimp a connector on the end , and attach it to the 18-14 gauge amplifier turn-on-lead from your head unit. This wire will turn on your amplifier and should show voltage only when the head unit is turned on. This can be checked with a voltmeter. Do not connect the turn-on lead to a constant source of voltage, as this will cause the amplifier to remain on all the time and drain your car battery.

Connect one end of the RCA cabled (if supplied) to the RCA outputs located on the back of the head unit. Be sure to connect the red RCA end of the right channel and the black RCA end to left channel of the head unit. The RCA Cable and turn-on lead should be routed down the opposite side of the vehicle that the power cable is on to avoid any electrical interference. Route the RCA cable along with the blue turn-on wire to the amplifier by removing any trim panels and/or sill plates.

Connect the speaker wire (if supplied) to the speakers you are amplifying. Attach the speaker terminals to the speaker cable by stripping 1/4" of the insulation and crimping a speaker terminal to the end. Attach the terminals to the speakers observing the proper polarity. Route the speaker leads to the amplifier by removing any trim panels and/or sill plates.

At this time you should have the power cable, speaker cables, RCA cables, and the turn-on lead all routed to the amplifier. Refer to the instruction included with the amplifier to mount and wire it. Additional terminals are supplied with your amplifier kit and may or may not be needed, depending on your particular model of amplifier.

The amplifier ground cable should be connected to a location on the vehicle free from any paint or grease, and it should be kept as short as possible (under 18" is preferred). Scrape or sand the metal to remove any foreign material. Route ground wire to amp and crimp on an appropriate ring/fork terminal depending on you installation. Using a 1/2" self-drilling screw or the like, attach the ground connection (black jacketed wire) to the vehicle. It is advised to place a locking star washer between the ring terminal and the grounding surface before final tightening of the grounding screw.

At this time, re-connect the negative battery cable to the battery and insert the fuse supplied with amp kit into the holder under the hood. Your system should be ready to test for functionality and set gain controls as per amplifier instructions.

Begin by starting the vehicle. Turn on the system and with the volume control on your head unit turned all the way down, listen for any engine noise or static coming from your speakers. If you hear any noise or static, you may need to re-route your power cable or RCA cables, adjust gains lower lower to reduce or eliminate noise. If you still experience noise, there are a variety of noise filters available in the market. Contact your local car audio specialist for assistance.

Reassemble any previously removed trim panels and/or sill plates, taking care not the pinch or puncture any of the amplifier cables.

CONGRATULATIONS - your amplifier installation is now complete!

You cand find 0, 4, and 8 gauge kits on our website also.
