Not just for making cartoons anymore! Acutually... quickly becoming a lost art due to computers and digital imaging........., animated cartoon cels are a great collectable!

Cels are for cartoons, TV commercials, movies, music videos, and TV shows.
It takes many cels to produce an actual scene. Therefore every cel out there is original-one of a kind... there are no 2 that would be the same, since each cel is the character moving throughout the scene.

When looking to purchase for cartoon cels there are a few things you want to make sure of:

• The cel should be on a sheet of clear acetate or nitrate. The cel should be handpainted.
• Some may have authentic seals- not all will include a seal
• Some may inlcude a paper backing with the character hand-drawn

Ideas ... what can I do with a cel?

• Frame it!
• Display it!
• Collect them in a book!
• Buy an entire series and display them in order

There is something out there for everyone!

There are different types of cels as well:

• Production art: cels that are used in a production of a movie, cartoon, commercial. These cels are handpainted and one of a kind.
• Limited Editions: non-production cel that is produced in limited quanities of around 500. They are handpainted. Not usually made by the original animator
• Prints: cels or drawings specifially produced for framing.
• Sericels: non-production cels that is made in editions of a few thousand. Created by a silk screen type process.
