American Silver Eagle
Original Government Packaging (OGP)
American Silver Eagles were first introduced in 1986. These beautiful one ounce silver coins come packaged in a small velvet covered book to hold the coin, as well as a cardboard box, and Certificate of Authenticity. You will see a few different colors of this packaging available.
From 1986 – 1993 the American Silver Eagles are packaged in a magenta-purple colored box with the velvet of the inside case to match. With the release of the 1994 Silver Eagle we saw a new dark blue packaging which more closely resembled the packaging found with the American Gold Eagles.
The last change to packaging for the Silver Eagles was made in 2001, where we saw a change to a lighter blue; almost identical to the packaging for American Gold Eagles released after 2001.
We've pictured these different packaging options for you below. There were very few minor changes to the design printed on the front of the box, and the detail in the American Eagle symbol attached to the front of the velvet case.
