Amber is the fossilized resin of trees,insects and even pine needles that have been trapped millions of years ago while the resin was still stickly. Over the centuries, philosophers had fanciful theories to explain the origins of amber. in ancient Rome in the first -century AD a Roman senator put in his records a popular belief that amber was formed from the urine of the lynx, the dark amber came from a male and the light amber from a female lynx. Another ancient belief holds that the rays of the sun became congealed in in the evening sea and was cast upon the shore in the form of amber.The Romans honored Amber and the wonan would color their hair the color of amber believeing it would make them more beautiful.There were many medicinal uses for Amber powdered amber was put into wine in the treatment of fever, asthma, and infections of the throat. All kinds of lotions were made in a medicine shop with amber . It was thought it strengthens the heart and the brain. Amber becomes charged with electricity when it is rubbed briskly with a wool cloth and attracts to itself small pieces of tissue, also Amber when you rub it gives off the smell of pine. The best Amber is Baltic amber, amber comes in different colors, a golden color is the color we see the most but, there is rare shades of violet, orange, yellow, green, blue, and even black, amber can be transparent or translucent.Amber produces heat and it is warm , gems or beads are cold to the touch.
