Amana - A Guide to Amana Kitchen Products
Founded in 1934, the Amana Corporation specializes in the manufacture of numerous household appliances. Purchased by Maytag in 2001, the company has greatly expanded their inventory over the years. Its selection of products now includes everything from refrigerators to stoves, dryers, and dishwashers.
A pioneer in the refrigeration business, Amana was the first company to produce a freezer for home use. Today, refrigeration continues to be one of their specialties and their product line contains a wide range of options to choose from. From their powerful Deepfreeze Freezers to their convenient Easy Reach refrigerators, Amana offers numerous practical ways to keep produce at the right storage temperature.
In the mid-'60s, Amana was purchased by the company responsible for the invention of the microwave, Raytheon. Although no longer a part of that corporation, Amana continues to produce a number of microwaves, including countertop and over-the-range models. The company has also expanded to offer other cooking products, including cooktops and electric and gas ranges.
Being a part of the Maytag group, Amana now also offers their own line of dishwashers and laundry machines. Their Super Capacity Plus washers are designed to provide users with more space than many competitive brands. Meanwhile, their dishwashers are equipped with the company's patented "SofSound" technology, which is designed to minimize noise. Sleekly designed, Amana manufactures appliances for both home use and commercial spaces.
