Jean Finishes
What is a jean finish? Well, it's exactly what it sounds like. Usually after jeans are put together it is the extra touches that are added to the jeans after they are finished. This isn't always the case though, some jeans are given added features during the process of making them.
Distressed:
These jeans are made to look as if they have had a really rough life! They are faded and worn, sometimes frayed around the hems, and some even feature hole. They are like your favorite, broken-in jeans.
Destroyed:
These jeans are made to look like they have been to war and have lived to show off their battle scars!!! They are beaten and bruised! Ripped, faded, torn, frayed, and sometimes stitched back up.
Blasted:
Short for "sandblasted". Blasted jeans have a heavily worn look, like they have been rubbed down with sand paper.
Crosshatch:
Have a crisscross weave throughout the jeans.
Slub:
Jeans that have been woven with uneven yarns, giving them an awesome textured effect.
Frayed:
Edges or hems that have been frayed for a worn-out look.
Lace-Up:
Usually feature a leather lace & eyelets. Normally found up legs, side, or taking place of the standard button/zipper fly.
Corded:
A Cross between corduroy pants and jeans. Corded jeans add amazing texture to ordinary pants.
Stretch:
Denim jeans that are blended with spandex for an extremely comfortable fit. These jeans are designed to adjust to your body.
Stitched:
Jeans that feature a stitched thread design; the thread is usually of a different color so that the stitching stands out.
Oven-Bake:
Actually baked in an oven to give them a semi-permanent crease or wrinkles in certain areas. This is the ultimate in vintage looks.
Colored:
Denim that is dyed to any color.
Exposed Button:
Have exposed button in place of the normal fly. Usually just two buttons but it can feature more.
Pintuck:
Features a permanent crease down the front of the legs for a tailored look.
Appliques:
Sewn on designs or patches
Jeweled:
Rhinestones, beads, studs, and many other types of jewels are either scattered around the pockets, belt loop, or fashioned in designs on the legs.
Painted:
These jeans feature blotches of paint of any color splattered across them.
Stained:
Just like it sounds, this jean features stains that are added before they are sold. It can be rings on the back pockets or stains that just drip down the jeans.
Hole:
Usually found on distressed or destroyed jeans. This feature is where the jeans have been cut & opened in certain areas.
