Only the origional owner of an Alienware computer can have access to the driver & download section on the Alienware web site.  A legitimate seller, who is the origional owner of the computer, should have no problem giving you access to the driver & download section, or downloading the most current drivers for the system you are about to purchase.  I found out all this after the fact.  Fortunate for me the seller of the laptop, who is a credit to the ebay comunity, helped me through this problem.

Below is the response I recieved from Alienware when I asked how to gain access to the driver & download section on their web site,

Thank you for contacting the Alienware Forum Support Team.
In order to create a support account to access the support features,
you will need the original account information from the person you
purchased the system from. Only customers who have purchased a complete Alienware
system can create a support account.

To help protect yourself from scams/fraud:

Read the other guides posted for purchasing computers

Ask, Ask, Ask.  Any legitimate seller will be happy to anwser any/all questions

Ask to see other pictures of the item for sale.  If they have the item, ask to see more pictures.  If they won't/can't, the dog ate my camera after I took them, you may want to pass on the item.  I've seen more generic pics of Alienware computers in the past 2 months than I've seen on the Alienware web site.

Don't respond to any add that wants you to contact the seller at a direct email address.  If the item is legit, use the 'ask seller a question' button.  If the account is stolen, you may not ever get a response to your question.  OR the response you get may be from the origional account owner telling you he/she doesn't have the item for sale.  (I've been bit by this one before)

Don't respond to any 2nd chance offers.  Most legitimate sellers won't offer them, and you may get them for items you never bid on.

This by no means is a guide written in stone, I just hope it helps people out who may be considering buying one of the best gaming computers on the market.
