Alice Temperley for Target: Part Deux

Last week, I reviewed the initial crop o’Temperley for Target treats, including the now sold out Cloak Gray ruffled voile dress.   Several items have been added (in stores and online) that merit a closer look.
My favorite new item is an ‘Angelina Jolie wearing St. John’s’ look knit sweater dress with a tie belt at the waist.  The fabric is a soft, stretchy blend of rayon/nylon that looks much more expensive than it is.  It’s difficult to see in the photos, but there is extended ribbing around the middle, so it shapes and provides everyone (even the most short-waisted) with a beautiful hourglass silhouette.  There are tiny golden threads at the top and bottom (please see close-ups) for a hint of glam and covered, contrast button-trim cuffs, reminiscent of Chanel.  This is an exquisite piece that hasn’t appeared online and is selling/sold out in stores…snap one up if you can!

I love the floral print she’s using with the various color ‘pops’ in pink and yellow, but the mini and maxi dresses are just too ‘resorty’ for right now.  Fortunately, she’s added a royal blue pop print wrap dress that’s the perfect transition piece for fall.   The fabric is a crepe-finished rayon that’s not as sturdy or well-made as say, a Diane Von Furstenberg,  but for the price, it’s a good value.  If you’re trying to choose between this style and the other wrap dresses (polka dot and solid) she did in poly, the crepe-finish is definitely the way to go.  As I explained last week when reviewing the polka dot shirt, the fabric just feels cheesy, cheap and I can’t imagine that it will wear well.

Judging from her publicity photo, Alice Temperley is a fan of cropped vests and has included several in the Target collection.  Surprisingly, these flatter both large and small busted gals…free your mind and try one on if you’re not convinced.  (-:  I especially like the crepe-finished poly vest with the embossed buttons in front and back.  She’s paired with a dandy ruffled blouse that is selling out (in several colors) online and in stores.
I haven’t seen the ski-look cropped sweater vest online, but I did find two in store.  Very cute and made from soft, brushed cotton that’s machine washable.    Another ‘only in limited stores’ item is the beret/long fingerless gloves…very Olsen twins on a good day.  Soft brushed cotton knit with tiny gold Lurex threads for a hint of glam.
