For all of you aireoft finatics out there here is a helpful guide to your Gas powered Blowback and Non-blowback airsoft guns.
Power source:
Gas airsoft Guns use several different gases that expell at different rates. The best so far is the typical Carbon Dioxide 12 gram cartridges. Many pistols now have CO2 cartrige magazines that use the CO2 in stead of the Green gas. CO2 boosters are also another way to use CO2 for a blowback pistol. There is a problem with Gas guns: their performance are effected by the weather. Cold conditions cause the gas to contract and not provide the necessary pressure to propel the BB's and Hot weather expands and uses the gas faster propelling the bb's harder but uses more gas.
Special Care for GBB:
GBB (Gas Blowback where the slide moves with each shot) guns require exceptiona maintenance and care due to the moving parts. They also use up more Gas than the non blowback but typically have a high power output. It is recomended that all parts (including the entire magazine) be sprayed with non corrosive Silicon oil to lubricate and clean out the gun and keep it in prime working order. Every so often one should dissasemble the slide of the GBB and clean it thoroughly to keep grime from building up. ****Special precautions should be taken when Dissassembling the gun!!! they contain many small parts and can break easily. If not guide is available this is not recomended unless one is experienced with airsoft guns. Disassembly can ruin a gun if not careful.
Special Care for NBB:
NBB (Non blowback) guns require maintenance but not to the extent of the GBB. basically the only thing that is really needed is to have the magazine lubed up after every use.
All Gas Guns:
Gas gun magazines have two opinions on the gas storage. 1) to leave a little in at the end of use to tighten seals. 2) to expell completely to keep from leaking. I don't know which is true i will let you decide.
