We are often asked the difference between air and water jetting on our clawfoot tubs. Air jetting is the simple introduction of air bubbles, often heated, into air injectors positioned generally on the bottom of your tub and sometimes around the sides. Even though the bubbles introduced to your bath may be heated, their temperature will always be lower than the water in the tub. However, this does add to the sensation. Water jetting is the recirculation of the water in your tub. First it is sucked from the tub through a pump and is pushed back under pressure to jets positioned in the tub walls. These jets are often speed and direction controlled. On almost every water jetted tub, air can be introduced to the water stream to increase massage activity and strength. Water jetting allows for a soft to a fairly vigorous massage, while air jetting is more similar to a soft, soothing caress. The two sensations are entirely different.
