Air Tran Airways is a southeast regional airline offering low budget airfare. It is struggling to fight in a market with discount airlines such as Southwest. Although the planes are somewhat overcrowded the service on the flights is acceptable. Prices are very reasonable and flights are available frequently to regional destinations. It is notable that the airline offers free XM radio in each seat, along with excellent headphones, all complimentary. The huge amount of stations has something to please everyone and does a marvelous job of passing the time. It also allows the low cost carrier to skip the in flight movie and trust that each passenger will still be entertained. I would expect to see many other airlines carrying XM in the future.
I am actually writing this review as I sit on a Trans Air flight the North Carolina. I recommend it for the budget minded flyer who is looking for an alternative to Southwest.
