Aglaonema
Aglaonema, commonly known as Chinese Evergreen plants are one of the most popular indoor plants. They come in many different beautiful cultivars, are very well adapted to indoor environments and easy to care for.
Aglaonema require medium to low light levels with little or no direct sunlight. Damage to the leaves can be caused by too much direct sunlight. Too much light can also cause the leaves to grow stiffly upright instead of naturally arching. A place in a north facing window or near an east facing window is ideal.
Aglaonema should be watered when the top 1-2 inches of soil feels dry to the touch. Water plant until a small amount of water drains from the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot.
Most Aglaonema cultivars will produce flowers. These flowers should be removed as soon as they appear to conserve the plants energy for producing new foliage, otherwise the plant tends to become leggy.
Aglaonema tolerates dry air better than most houseplants, but will still benefit from misting every other day or so when indoor air is very dry.
Aglaonema are very sensitive to cold air. Be sure to keep the plant in a warm place that is free from drafts.
Aglaonema are hardy plants and with proper care they experience very few problems.
