There are websites out there making good money from Google Adsense™. But because of Google’s restrictions on the information that their partners can reveal, we cannot disclose to you exact figures. We can tell you that some websites are earning between $1000 and $10,000 a month so it can be an excellent source of income.

The sites that are making a lot of money from Adsense™ are generally getting a lot of traffic to their website and they also have lots of quality content. These websites also target keywords covering topics like travel destinations, the latest technology news and reviews on hight priced items that attract high paying ads.

There are also many other refinements that you can incorporate into your website to increase your revenue, even if you website doesn’t fit the model above. Here are some of the advanced strategies you can use:
  • Research keywords: Go to the pay-per-click search engines and look for the high paying keywords, these are the best keywords to target. Some customers are willing to pay $50+ for a single click on some keywords so targeting these keywords is going to give you a bigger income – providing you can develop quality content on your website for these keyword subjects.

  • Eliminate the competition: You certainly don’t want your competitors advertising on your website so you can use Google’s Adsense™ filter to eliminate competitors URL’s. You will find the Adsense™ filter inside of the Adsense™ account. Use a search engine to find all of your competitor’s websites and simply add their URL’s to the filter.

  • Develop content that is tightly focused on your target market: If you have a content rich website, then Google Adsense™ will work very well for you. If you stick to one topic per page, it will help Google to determine what ads to place on the page. The main factor in determining what ads are placed on your page are the keywords in your content, so when your content is focused, the ads displayed will be consistent with your content and more relevant to your visitors.

  • Use SEO techniques: If you use Search Engine Optimisation techniques in your website, it will attract higher paying keywords. For example, save your webpage as a name that includes the keyword you are targeting, eg. yoursite.com/keyword.html and you should also sprinkle the same keyword a few times in the first 250 words of the page, this will attract ads to your website the same as your keyword.

  • Place you ads on content-rich pages: The more content you have on a page, the easier it is for Google to generate an ad for it. The ads are really made for content-rich pages because they blend in well.

  • Use ‘alternate’ ads: If there are no ads available to suit the contents of your website, Google will generate an alternata ad instead. This is a much better option than having a blank space on your website.

  • Don’t put ads on your sales pages: If you are selling other item from your website, don’t put ads on those sales pages. Don’t give a customer the opportunity to leave your website while they are purchasing. You shouldn’t put ads on your product info pages, your sales letter page or on your order page.

  • Avoid putting ads on pages with lots of links: On pages that contain a lot of text links, it will be difficult to generate a lot of click throughs. Your Adsense links will be competing with your text links for your customer’s attention.

  • Use Adsense ‘channels’: In your Adsense account you will find the channel tool that will allow you to track the performance of your ads. By grouping pages together and assigning them a channel, you can then test the performance of one group against another.

  • Review your stats regularly: This step is one of the most important in your long term success, yet it is so often overlooked. By looking through your statistics, from both your Adsense account and your website traffic stats, you can determine which ads are doing well and which ads are wasting your time. Of course, when you find a winning combination, you should duplicate the strategy throughout your website. If you are selling a product or a service from your website, you will also need to monitor your sales to see if using Adsense has decreased your sales and decreased the average time visitors spend on your website.

  • Don’t scam Google: Don’t go clicking through on your own links to increase your sales. Google developers aren’t stupid and you will probably end up loosing your account and getting banned from using Adsense.
If you think that Google Adsense may be for you, the best way to go is to test it out on your site with one page and monitor the impact it has on your visitors and your income.

You will need to work out a balanced combination of generating hight traffic, high paying ads, good targeted content, well thought out design along with monitoring and testing.
