Ace Young - 2006 American Idol Finalist Ace Young

Tonight American Idol announced their 2006 finalists - 12 men and 12 women. Among the male finalists was wavy haired, big eyed Ace Young who got Paula's attention in the early auditions. I believe Ace Young has a good chance at being a true American Idol Finalists (final 4?) as he will win the female votes - his wavy locks, big eyes and good looks have the teenage girls already blogging away. But will Ace Young's voice carry him through? His voice is good - but not the best of the group... if he can make it through to the last couple weeks though, it might be enough!

Feb. 20th Ace Young Update

Fox posted their Ace Young factoids - the night before the first week of voting begins (Tuesday is the women's competition, Wednesday is the men's, and Thursday is the voting). Below are the Ace Young facts from Fox:

March 1st Ace Young Update

Mr. Ace Young was the early male favorite but, after a really bland rendition of "If I'm Not Made For You" (and mounting competition), I believe Ace dropped a few slots. After a pathetic intro about his fascination with 'beanies', Ace took the stage and struggled his way through this slow song... finally arriving at a very high falsetto note that made me shiver. Somehow the judges enjoyed the effort and that note - but I was very unimpressed by Ace Young tonight. That said - we will still be talking about him in a few weeks time as he easily sails into the next couple rounds.

March 14th Ace Young Update

Rough night for Ace Young... its a good thing the girl's dig his long locks and rosy cheeks because his singing is painful. Ace started the evening off with "Do I Do" and struggled to find the rythm and hit the notes... the result was a barrage of mediocre comments from the judges. Ace Young will continue to make it through the contest - but consider it a result of his looks and not his vocals.
