Hematite is an iron ore found in England, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, and in the Lake Superior region of the United States.
Hematite's name comes from a Greek word meaning blood-like due to the color of its powder form. In ancient times, it was believed that large deposits of Hematite were formed from battles fought and blood flowed into the ground. Hematite was used in seals as early as 2500 B.C. It was once believed that Hematite would make warriors invulnerable.
Some people call it the "stone for the mind," Hematite aids with logical thinking, enhancing memory, understanding technical knowledge, original thinking, and mathematics. It has a calming effect on the wearer. Some think Hematite can reduce stress from air travel.
