Attakus is the distributor of Bombyx studio creations, who have produced over 350 total original sculptures in it's 10 year history. These pieces are incredible hand painted, individually numbered true works of art. Each comes with it's own Certificate of Authenticity (COA).
Attakus' Star Wars Series 1 hallmarked the new beginning of a completely new type of collectible for SW fans. The first series of these 1:5 scale statues were six (6) pieces with various release times from Jan 2001 to Jan 2002.
As you will see evident in their work, the Attakus motto is "to seriously sculpt, without being too serious."
*Note: height and weight statistics were obtained as conversions from the metric system and are as accurate as possible.

I decided to write this guide because I have become fascinated with these statues. Pictures certainly do not do them justice. I cannot praise the artisans who created these enough. Some collectors scoff and the price tag, which ranges from approximately $300-600 MSRP but you can easily pick one up from a reputable seller on ebay for less. I believe they are worth every penny as these are very limited (1,500 copies worldwide) original, hand-painted sculptures in the likeness of our favorite characters from the SW saga.
I would highly recommend visiting Attakus' website. Attakus has really been working hard on their forum there - adding lots of information, background; a Q and A and even a warm "welcome" section. The Attakus moderators (Stephane and Diego) are very friendly and helpful. I would encourage you to read about Bombyx Studios - their history and philosophy. It will give you a more personal and better understanding of the artistry involved. I one day hope to visit their new gallery in Montreal, Canada!

Boba Fett
From "The Empire Strikes Back," released Jan 2001. 16.1"H. 6.5 lbs. MSRP $275. Attakus portrays the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy in a very cool and unique "action pose". It accurately looks like he is shooting at someone; trying to snag yet another bounty or Wookie scalp. The fun thing about this statue is that Boba is in his ESB outfit while the pose is clearly from ROTJ!Darth Maul
From "The Phantom Menace" was released Oct 2001. 15"H. 6.8 lbs. MSRP $269. This statue is incredibly detailed and captures the "dark side" of this Sith Lord. Look at the detail of his "Sith Eyes" on the close-up high res photo.Han Solo Carbonite
From "The Empire Strikes Back" was released Jan 2002. 15"H. 9.8 lbs. MSRP $305. This sculpture definitely needs to be seen with your own eyes to see the incredible detail of the "electronic" components on each side of the carbonite block.Princess Leia as Jabba's Slave
From "Return of the Jedi" was released April 2001. 8"H. 6.2 lbs. MSRP $225. Leia was later available as a set with Jabba the Hutt (Series 2). Attakus has made her beautifully seductive and life-like as Jabba's treasure. There was a bronze version of this same sculpt that was never released for sale (see ATTAKUS Star Wars Fine Collectibles).
R2-D2
From "A New Hope" was released Jan 2001. 8.7"H. 5.7 lbs. MSRP $214. Apparently, other companies, such as Gentle Giant and Sideshow (not to "knock them"... but) have forgotten about R2. He is the ONLY "core" character whose appearance is consistently portrayed in all of the six Star Wars films (C-3PO looked very different in TPM)!Yoda
As seen in "The Empire Strikes Back" was released Jan 2001. 5.9"H. 1.8 lbs. MSRP $249. Bombyx-Attakus has again done such an incredible job on this piece; which is one of my personal favorites! Look at the detail on the "close-up" picture. Yoda's skin looks (and feels) exactly as how one could only hope it would is such a beautiful representation. His robe so realistically appears like cloth that one has to touch it and feel how hard it is to remember it is actually made of porcelain!! This figure was later produced in bronze in an exclusive run of 250.I decided to write this guide because I have become fascinated with these statues. Pictures certainly do not do them justice.
