A 5 POINT GUIDE TO SHOPPING FOR A CHECKPOINT STOP SHOPLIFTING EAS ANTITHEFT LOSS PREVENTION SECURITY SYSTEM. by Mary Fouts 800-934-7080 ebay name sensortags

1. Does this system alarm for hard plastic tags (sometimes refered to as targets, used mostly on apparel or items that a pin can be put into)?  If you are buying the system for a pharmacy or video store you want to be sure you are not buying a system that will only ring hard plastic tags.

2. Will this system ring paper labels?  Some systems are tuned to ring paper labels and others can not be tuned for paper labels.  If you have a clothing store that you want to be able to double tag with paper labels as a backup or if you have boxed or gift items and you want to protect them also you must have a system that will ring paper labels.

3. What distance do you need to secure?  The width of your doorway is important.  If you have a 3 foot standard doorway and the system is tuned for a 6 foot opening it will have to be re-tuned.  If the door opens in it is more difficult for a double pillar system than using a single pillar system on the side of the handle of the door.  Be sure the type of tags you want to use will ring at the distance of your doorway width.  Sometimes the listings only say how far a system will ring a hard tag which is usually farther than what a paper label will ring usually.  There are also various sizes of paper labels so sometimes a larger one will work depending upon the system.  If you have any questions a good resourse is sensortags dot com.

4. Are you securing video rentals?  Checkpoint has a special frequency for video rentals which is 9.5 mhz.  These tags can not be deactivated and are a different fequency than retail stores so the rental video can be taken into the store next door without ringing their system.

5. Do you want to deactivate the paper labels?  Yes you can do this if you are using deactivatable labels.  Many systems require different deactivators depending upon the type of towers you have purchased.  Usually a counterpoint VII will deactivate most labels without affecting your system.  Some stubborn labels require this higher level deactivator as well.  These can be set to ring when a tag is removed or setup not to ring.  Be sure when you buy them that you get what you want because it is hard to change later.
