When she was a young girl, she obsessed about being a famous writer.  Little did Juliet Hulme realize what she would become known for was taking part in a murder - the infamous New Zealand murder in the 1950's of one girl's mother by two young friends from completely different social backgrounds, each with an overdeveloped fantasy life, extraordinarily desperate not to be separated... 

After spending 5 years in prison, then being paroled and taking various jobs, Juliet settled down first in the US, then later in Scotland, changed her name to Anne Perry (a nickname plus her stepfather's last name) and finally became the famous, beloved writer she'd always wished to be, writing 2 different well-thought-out, detailed, and engaging Victorian murder mysteries series and now a series of books based during WWI...  (Only she will ever know how much of her work is based on personal experience and how much is the product of a well-honed imagination...)
